Detroit
Lions
(2-8)

Key matchup: Packers secondary vs. QB Daunte Culpepper
Lions rookie QB Matt Stafford may be out this week after separating his shoulder against the Browns. If Culpepper get’s the start for Detroit, Green Bay will have to keep the veteran from making plays against them.
Key matchup: Lions run defense vs. Packers RB Ryan Grant
Grant rushed for 129 yards and a TD against the 49ers in Week 11. Detroit has the league’s 32nd-ranked pass defense, so stopping QB Aaron Rodgers will be a problem. Detroit’s run defense is ranked 20th in the NFL.

Weather report: This game will be played in a dome, so weather will not be a factor.

Xavi's Forecast: The Packers are ranked seventh in total offense and are the eighth highest scoring team. The Lions are second to last in the league in total defense and dead last in points allowed. The Lions defense may get a couple of sacks on QB Aaron Rodgers. Then again, who doesn’t? Either way, it’s going to a very Happy Thanksgiving for the Packers’ offensive studs.

2009 Regular season rankings:

Packers defense: Total (3rd), rushing (4th), passing (7th)
Lions offense: Total (24th), rushing (25th), passing (18th)

Packers offense: Total (7th), rushing (11th), passing (19th)
Lions defense: Total (31st), rushing (20th), passing (7th)

FOX Sports Power Rankings:
Packers:
No.12
Lions: No.30

Injury report: PACKERS: OUT: LB Aaron Kampman (knee). DOUBTFUL: G Allen Barbre (ankle), RB Ahman Green (groin). PROBABLE: LB Brandon Chillar (hand), T Chad Clifton (knee), RB Ryan Grant (neck), DE Cullen Jenkins (ankle), DE Johnny Jolly (back), RB John Kuhn (hand), G Josh Sitton (back), C Scott Wells (knee), CB Charles Woodson (hip). LIONS: OUT: S Kalvin Pearson (hamstring), S Ko Simpson (knee), LB Ernie Sims (hamstring). DOUBTFUL: QB Matthew Stafford (left shoulder, knee), DE Dewayne White (toe). QUESTIONABLE: S Louis Delmas (ankle), WR Calvin Johnson (hand, knee), T Daniel Loper (back). PROBABLE: DT Joe Cohen (ankle), LB Jordon Dizon (neck), LB Zack Follett (neck), DT Grady Jackson (knee), RB Kevin Smith (hip).

Shaw's analysis: While the Lions deserve some credit for pulling off one of the most exciting wins of the season, let's not forget that it was the Browns on the opposing side. The Packers will have its way with the Lions this weekend, particularly with Calvin Johnson and Matthew Stafford likely sidelined.

Marc Lawrence: GB -- One is enough for the Lions.

Gonos' Fantasy Four Downs

  • Jermichael Finley is coming off a career-high seven-catch week, and he caught five passes in his last game against the Lions.
  • Only Chris Johnson, DeAngelo Williams and Steven Jackson have rushed for more yards since Week 7 than Ryan Grant.
  • It looks like Daunte Culpepper will get the start against the Packers Thursday. Great news for the Packers DST, since Culpepper has thrown eight INTs (compared to five TDs) in his past eight starts.
  • Kevin Smith hasn’t scored since Week 4, and he totaled just 61 yards on 15 carries, with no catches, in his last game against the Packers.
