A lot of times, I’ll get backed up on things I mean to share with the OPEN Sports community – and finally, I just have to let it all out in one random, machine-gun like blast. Here goes:
--First, don’t forget that on every Friday, I’m going to run a one-hour Fantasy chat session. Hit me with some questions on who to start, who to pick up, who to drop – I’ll be ready -- every Friday at 11 a.m. ET.
--Paul Greco, a good friend that has been a friend to OPEN Sports and a fantasy analyst with Lenny Melnick at www.melnickandgrecofantasysports.com, needs our help.
He’s in the running for MLB’s Rookie Reporter, which will send someone to cover the World Series in October for MLB. The more people that vote for him, the better chance he’ll have to win! So do us and him a favor and VOTE GRECO!
--I just finished a stretch of six fantasy football drafts in seven days. I woke up this morning and drafted a bowl of Frosted Flakes in the third round. I passed on the fresh fruit bowl because I really think it’s overrated this year.
--In those six fantasy drafts, here are some quick items you might find useful:
-----Kevin Smith was regularly going in the fourth round. One buddy that had the 10th pick, was able to draft Randy Moss and Larry Fitzgerald in the first two rounds, then follow them up with Earnest Graham and Smith in the third and fourth rounds. That’s a great gamble that could pay off big-time going with two receivers first.
-----Derek Anderson can be had later than you’d think. I got him in the eighth round Wednesday night, although he went in the fifth round in Tuesday’s experts draft.
-----Marion Barber is moving awfully close to “In the money” status that other studs like L.T., Adrian Peterson, Brian Westbrook, Tom Brady, Joseph Addai and Steven Jackson already have. If you have a top seven pick, he’s a nice prize.
-----Nate Burleson and Reggie Brown are being treated shabbily in fantasy drafts. No one targets them. They usually just end up with them. But entering the season, they are both No. 1 WRs for teams with very good quarterbacks.
