Sean Salisbury and John Elway discuss which quarterback is expected to have a better Sunday afternoon at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. John Elway on Ben Roethlisberger Both of these guys are great quarterbacks. They both fit into their individual scenarios very well with Ben being in Pittsburgh and Kurt in Arizona. They each fit very well in those offenses. It is always tough to pick one quarterback over the other, but I Read more...

The NFL will salute four decades of greatness during the coin toss ceremony for the Feb. 1 game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals and the Vince Lombardi Trophy presentation of Super Bowl XLIII. The coin toss will feature Roger Craig (Super Bowl XXIII, 1989), John Elway (Super Bowl XXXIII, 1999) and Lynn Swann (Super Bowl XIII, 1979). Joe Namath (Super Bowl III, 1969) will participate in the Vince Lombardi Trophy presentation. Reaction from John Elway: “It was a treme Read more...

Mike Shanahan has been one of the best coaches in the NFL for a long, long time and while I know it’s extremely disappointing for him, Mike is a battler and he’ll land on his feet and be coaching soon. He’s been a great coach and I appreciate everything he’s done for Denver and my career, which he’s played a big role in. He’s responsible for bringing those two Super Bowls to Denver and it would not have been without him. He’s just a great football coach Read more...

St. Louis at Atlanta Atlanta is riding high after going into Minnesota and beating a good team last week and clinching a playoff spot. I would hope that they would take advantage of this game because St. Louis is just having a terrible season. They cannot wait to get this year over. I say this one is a blowout in Atlanta. New England at Buffalo Obviously Buffalo is coming off of a big win in Denver. New England needs a win and they need some help. It will be a tough game for both. Buffalo is Read more...

What went wrong with Denver? I think they went into Carolina and played that good Carolina team. They stayed with them early, but I think that they were counting on the fact of winning the game against Buffalo here in Denver. They had many chances and out-gained them by almost twice as many yards but really didn’t have a chance or the killer instinct to put them away, which is eminent for the playoff spot. They had to win just one game in the last three and they would win the division. I Read more...

fireballz99 asks: Hey John – if you were the GM of an expansion NFL franchise, which young NFL quarterback would you select to build your NFL franchise around: Matt Ryan, Aaron Rodgers, or Jay Cutler? This is a tough choice but ultimately I think I would take Matt Ryan. His maturity and skills are exceptional and seems to be able to handle the media and fans with class. nflfan asks: Okay John, I know this question gets asked almost every year, but I want to get your take on it. In all se Read more...

When it comes to the 5-8 San Diego Chargers, there are a few major things wrong with that team that is holding them back from winning ball games. Clearly the biggest issue with the Chargers is injuries. You cannot lose your top players on each side of the ball, linebacker Shawne Merriman and running back LaDainian Tomlinson, and expect them to be the same team. I would look to improve the offensive line in the draft or free agency and not make any major changes. They will bounce back next seaso Read more...

gogetta1 asks: Hey John - despite his latest outing, Matt Cassel has looked solid in his first year as a starter. What do think happens when Tom Brady returns...could the Patriots even consider trading Brady? I really don't see that happening despite how well Cassell has played. Brady's proven he can win championships...Cassell has proven he can win some games. There's a big difference. With that said, change is the way of the NFL...so nothing would surprise me. ragingbull asks: John, it's bee Read more...

The Appetizer: Poor Detroit…the entire country is preparing for Thanksgiving andthe Lionshave very little to be thankful for…especially having to play an upset Titans team coming off theirfirst loss of the season. Could it get any worse for the poor Lions? But look on the bright side: it looks like the Lions will be able to draft another WR with what should be another top 5 first round pick. The Entree: The second game of our Thanksgiving Day tripleheader is going to be better th Read more...

I think going for the two-point conversion and the win was a great move by Herm Edwards. I think the chances are 65 or 67 percent of the first team that gets the football wins in overtime. I think by rolling the dice and putting it in the player’s hands in regulation where they have the control was smart. Plus, with the Chiefs and the season that they are having, they had to go for the win there. Even though they didn’t make the two-point conversion, they have to be proud of themsel Read more...
