Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan told NFL.com that he believes Smith (knee) will be ready to play at the beginning of the season.

Analysis:Smith's knee injury occurred just over a month ago, putting Linehan's timetable for a healthy Smith on a very generous pace. We're likely to hear all kinds of different things about Smith's rehab throughout the rest of the offseason; but at this point, we'd be surprised to see him ready at kickoff of Week 1.

Matthew Stafford is recovering well from knee surgery, according to the Detroit News.

Analysis:Stafford should be fully recovered once offseason training begins in March. He could be a decent sleeper quarterback in his sophomore campaign.

Smith, who underwent surgery on his torn ACL last month, still needs to have surgery on his separated shoulder, according to the Detroit News.

Analysis:It's going to be quite the offseason for Smith, who likely won't have feature back role with the Lions this coming season. He may not even be ready to go for the opening of the year unless his rehab is seamless.

Analysis:Johnson caught just 35 passes this past season, and the Lions probably had hoped for around 50 when they signed him prior to the year. Detroit will certainly look for outside help to upgrade their receiving corps around Calvin Johnson, but as of now it's unclear if they'll be able to find an option superior to what they already have.

An NFL spokesman revealed that King was suspended for the Lions' Week 17 contest against Chicago due to an "alcohol-related violation of law," the Detroit Free Press reports.

Analysis:King was already on injured reserve, so he wasn't eligible to play, but he did forfeit his game check due to the suspension. It's unclear if this suspension will put King in the league's substance abuse program which would make him to longer suspensions and steeper fines should be run afoul of the law again.
