Reggie Bush had microfracture surgery on his left knee after he was placed on injured reserve in December, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Analysis:Bush has had knee issues for some time now. He's been one of the bigger disappointments in the NFL the last few years, and though he's expected to be healthy for training camp, it's yet another reason for fantasy owners to be weary of him next season.

Quarterback Drew Brees has been named as The Associated Press 2008 NFL Offensive Player of the Year, the AP reports. He earned 22 of the 50 votes and beat out Philip Rivers, DeAngelo Williams, Michael Turner, and Steve Smith. Brees passed for 5,069 yards during the season, which is the second-best mark of all-time.

Analysis:Congrats to Drew, who excelled despite injuries to Marques Colston, Jeremy Shockey, and Reggie Bush. Brees is likely to sit atop the fantasy quarterback rankings entering 2009. Also, isn't it odd that Rivers and Williams finished second and third in this voting but didn't make the Pro Bowl?

Brees has won The Associated Press 2008 NFL Offensive Player of the Year award after nearly setting a passing record for yards.

Analysis:The quarterback of the New Orleans Saints threw for 5,084 yards, 16 fewer than Dan Marino's 1984 mark and only the second time someone has eclipsed 5,000 yards passing in a season. Although the Saints were 8-8 and didn't make the playoffs, Brees' prolific work earned him 22 votes in balloting by a nationwide panel of 50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the league.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that it's a realistic possibility that Deuce McAllister will not be back with the team in 2009.

Analysis:McAllister has battled injuries for a while now, and simply isn't what he once was. With Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas in New Orleans, there may not be a spot for Deuce.

Sean Payton was pleased to see Saints defensive line coach Ed Orgeron leave for a job with Tennessee, as his dalliances with college jobs was seen as a distraction by Payton, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Analysis:Payton was also not happy with the play of the defensive line. He is possibly interested in hiring Bill Johnson, who was with Denver last season, as line coach.
